A Tradition of Developing Young Talent
Established in 1973 by Shimano, the globally renowned bicycle components manufacturer headquartered in Sakai, Osaka, this distinguished team has a long and respected history.
Over the decades, it has produced many of Japan’s leading riders and has made significant contributions to the growth of the nation’s cycling culture.
At the opening round of the J Criterium Tour in February, the Shibushi Criterium, Tadaaki Nakai and Yuki Ishihara secured a one-two finish, providing the team with an excellent start to the 2025 season.
In March, at the West Japan Challenge, not only did Shoma Kazama claim victory, but five of the top six finishers represented
Shimano Racing, underlining the team’s dominance.
Entering the second half of the season in August, the squad continued to demonstrate its strength, winning both the team time trial and the road race at their home event, the Shimano Suzuka Road Race.
In September, at the Tour of Salalah (UCI 2.2) in Oman, Kazama placed second on the final stage and finished seventh overall.
Having shown they can compete on equal terms with the rival teams they will face again in Kyushu, the team is expected to deliver strong performances in October.
Leading the team is former Japanese national champion Shotaro Iribe, who also brings experience at the WorldTeam level.
