The Aussie Sprint Squad Ready to Take Down Top Teams
An Australian UCI Continental team making its first appearance in this race.
The team, primarily composed of young riders, is led by the oldest member (still only 27), Cameron Scott (Australia).
He previously rode for the UCI WorldTeam Bahrain Victorious for two years and is a strong competitor.
This season, he won a sprint in the Tour of Gyeongnam in South Korea.
The team’s central rider is 24-year-old Liam Walsh.
Following his win at the Tour of Japan Tokyo Stage, he gained momentum with two stage wins in Gyeongnam and also won a bunch sprint in the class 1 Czech Tour held in August.
If both riders participate following TOJ, they are expected to contend for stage victories in Kyushu as well.
Another rider with high potential for the future is 20-year-old William Heffernan (Australia), who excels on hilly courses and has the endurance to survive until the final stages of races.
