TOTALENERGIES TOTALENERGIES
(PT / France)
This is a historic French UCI ProTeam founded in 2000. The team has undergone several name changes, from Bouygues Telecom to Europcar in the mid-2000s, and is familiar to Japanese fans thanks to Yukiya Arashiro, who was part of the team and competed in the Tour de France. The current title sponsor is French energy giant TotalEnergies. Until last season, the team revolved around superstar rider Peter Sagan (Slovakia), but this season, it has restructured around French riders.
Antony Turgis, who had long been a perennial runner-up, proved the new lineup's potential by winning Stage 9 of this year’s Tour de France. The team also boasts riders like Mathieu Burgaudeau, Pierre Latour, and Alexis Vuillermoz, who excel more in one-day races or stage wins on hilly courses than in overall classifications. They are expected to make the racing tough every day in the Kyushu races, and are one of the teams to watch.
