「Mynavi Tour de Kyushu 2026」×「Locus」 program is a year-long inquiry-based learning initiative in which high school students work together with local businesses to develop solutions to regional challenges such as population decline, an aging society, and natural disasters, using the Mynavi Tour de Kyushu 2026 international cycling road race as a platform.
By encouraging students to develop a stronger interest in their local communities and businesses during high school, the program also aims to promote regional revitalization and increase the number of young people who choose to return to their hometowns after studying or working elsewhere.
Introduction & Orientation
Guided by the Mynavi Tour de Kyushu 2026 vision, “Make Kyushu Sustainable – For a Sustainable Future for Kyushu,” students are introduced to the central inquiry:
“What can we do to help create a sustainable future for Kyushu?”
Students discuss the strengths and challenges of the communities they live in, encouraging them to view local issues as their own rather than someone else’s problem.
The key is to think freely without being constrained by whether an idea seems immediately feasible. Instead, students are encouraged to ask themselves, “What would I want to do?”
As they discover that the challenges facing a town are ultimately the challenges facing the people who live there, students experience the value of collaborating with classmates and local communities to solve problems and make improvements. Through these experiences, they develop a stronger attachment to their community, a greater appreciation for its people, and pride in their own contributions.
This leads to the ultimate goal of inquiry-based learning: fostering civic pride.
Civic pride refers to the sense of responsibility, confidence, and motivation that inspires residents and those connected to a region to contribute to building a better community.
The session and preliminary learning provide students with the foundation for taking that first step.

Field Study – Presentation to the Governor
Students learn about real-world approaches to solving regional challenges through guest lectures delivered by member companies of the Kyushu Economic Federation and other local businesses involved with Mynavi Tour de Kyushu 2026. They also conduct interviews with sponsoring companies during the race to gain further insight into corporate initiatives.
Working in groups, students develop and refine ideas for addressing local issues. The teams with the strongest proposals are ultimately selected to present their solutions before the prefectural governor.
Supporting and nurturing the challenges undertaken by high school students today helps shape the future of Kyushu tomorrow.
Mynavi Tour de Kyushu 2026 is more than an international cycling road race. It is also committed to promoting educational initiatives like these that empower the next generation to create a more sustainable future.
