Exhibition KOKURA CASTLE CRITERIUM
A criterium is a type of road race that takes place on a short, looped course. It’s a race format that’s ideal for spectators, as riders pass by multiple times in a short period, giving it a strong "exhibition" aspect. The 1.8 km course that loops around Kokura Castle, built by Lord Tadaoki Hosokawa, is one of the most iconic criterium locations in Japan. Riders complete 25 laps, covering approximately 45 km, in about one hour. The final group sprint, where speeds can reach close to 70 km/h, is a must-see.
